Over the course of hexad years the Nazis had succeeded in murdering n primeval 11 million people; including six million Jews, Poles and Gypsies. One medic from the 45th Infantry grade wrote, What I saw and experienced at Dachau, the atrocities, the cruelty, was something which if I had not seen with my own eyes, I would not believe had happened in polite nations. Perhaps the most disturbing truth that we as a society, and as human beings must come to grips with is, the simple accompaniment that this horrible time in history wasnt carried place by mere psychopaths. These heinous crimes were inflicted by ordinary men and women in society. They were farmers, bakers, doctors, lawyers and teachers. How was it that these men and women could be capable of such things?

At this time period, Germany was the most unlikely candidate to be a place where unspeakable evil and mass murder would occur. How could a nation so technologically advanced, and sophisticated fall feed in to the ideas of racial superiority and supremacy? This was the question many Jews asked themselves in the aftermath of holocaust. Their faith in the Germans genius of humanity and decency almost led them to the brink of extinction. Yet, there are some people who would rather believe that the German citizens were guileless bystanders, ultimately powerless in preventing the mass murder carried out by their leaders.
