Richmond

I reverted to an experience that a person my hop on would call normal. In my freshman and sophomore long time in high school I spent summers in europium. What an experience! I sensed my roots and the relative jejuneness of the United States. The inheritance of Western Europe was so clear, politically, culturally, and architecturally. Yet, Iceland left-hand(a) me way outside my comfort zone; while set out of Western Europe, this island country was totally unfamiliar, in landscape, language, climate, and sunlight; someway mystical with geysers, elves, hot pools, and a partially lava landscape.
My parents and I set down at the Reykjavík airport at 2AM on a June morning; it was dusk. Coming from Heathrow, we spent hours discussing our limited historical perspective, the slope grand architecture and our heritage. As we debarked the plane, we realized that the sun had not set and that landscape looked like a giant cakehole driveway. We proceeded to the Hertz counter and saw three of the most sensory people we had seen up until now. We would see hundreds of beautiful people as we toured the Icelandic territory.

A helpful young man changed our savourless tire and when my Dad asked directions, said there is only one main highroad in the country; take a right and it will lead you to the city of Reykvick.
We followed the single road through miles of black landscape, so unfamiliar except for a patch in Arizona.. Finally, we began to see isolated vegetation, which grew as we progressed to the corking city. When we arrived in Reykjavík, the names of the streets were difficult to read to my Dad, even though it was light out , because the words were so complex. We had left our comfort zone, which was alarming as we were still in Western Europe……Tip of the iceberg, so to speak. We were in a diverse culture, yet it is connected to ours.
