In Nancy Sommers Article about learning, I meet Here Writing, she uses personal experience to demonstrate her opinions. Her conscious heading thoughts while cooking brings her to think about a outcome of personal experiences. Sommers is a teacher who compulsion[s] to understand [her] living, breathing, primary sources totally around [her]. These primary sources are her students who she wishes to teach how to segue from aceness idea to the next without accumulat[ing] facts as previously taught to the students. She wants her students to see themselves as sources and to [learn] that they [should] never leave themselves behind when they write. Sommers herself when younger use to hate authorities; she encourages her students to do the same. One student of hers, David, was one that care to question authorities. She gave an assignment to write an essay, David wrote his essay on what is learning in which he ended the essay in a joke which makes a comparison between a canary and a lemon, two things people would never connect. Sommers was particularly interested in this joke becasue it force[d] into our [minds] ideas which we have never [connected].



She liked how the joke forced the mind to knoc[k] down barriers between ideas. Sommer writes about how she wishes that we be open to the unexpected because we are able to take up complexities which allows these odd unusual conjunctions [to] come together and speak done us. She describes that she would like people to understand that by imagining, even up when we write, that we too will be a source from which otherwise readers can draw sustenance. She wants people to stop universe concerned with the instructions given and think outside the box.
