It solely takes one voice, yet it seems most lack the tolerance and empathy involve to hear the message being conveyed.





In 1972, a juvenile mans misdiagnosis and subsequent sentencing was brought to a relatively transcendental reporter and this action in turn threw the doors open on a progressive school for the mental health population. What followed was a key event in the civil rights movement for Americans with Disabilities. This up close look exposed the realities that these men and women faced on a day to day basis. Nonexistent funds for appurtenant staff led to a ratio of one bear to sixty or seventy patients, a lack of enclothe that most were never taught to wear in the first place, and a constant stench from unhygienic conditions worsened by a clientele that wasnt considered to be functional enough to realize to use toilets.
